배트맨’ vs. ‘베인’, 운명을 건 최후의 전투
다크 나이트 신화의 전설이 끝난다.
배트맨이 조커와의 대결을 끝으로 세상에서 모습을 감춘 8년 후, 하비 덴트의 죽음에 대한 책임을 떠안은 배트맨은 모든 것을 희생하며 떠나고.. 범죄방지 덴트법으로 인해 한동안 평화가 지속되던 고담시의 파멸을 예고하며 나타난 마스크를 쓴 잔인한 악당, 최강의 적 베인이 등장한다. 베인은 배트맨이 스스로 택한 유배 생활에 종지부를 찍게 하지만, 다시 돌아온 배트맨에게 베인은 만만한 상대가 아니다.
자신을 거부한 사람들의 고통을 지켜볼 것인가, 정의의 수호자로 나설 것인가. 배트맨은 승패를 알 수 없는 마지막 전투를 시작한다.
'배트맨 비긴즈'로 시작했으나 그 때는 대중이 미처 그 가치를 알아주지 못했고, '다크 나이트'로 전세계를 씹어먹은 후에야 대중이 그 빛나는 가치를 뒤늦게 발견하고 놀란표 배트맨 시리즈의 찬란한 성과를 재평가 및 칭송하기 시작했으며, 이제는 3부작의 마지막 '다크 나이트 라이즈' 로 완벽하게 끝나 전설로 끝나버린 명작의 이야기.
동전의 양면 또는 혼돈과도 같은 선과 악의 개념, 정의의 수호라는 기치 아래서도 무너지고야 마는 등장인물들의 소신과 철학, 어찌 보면 환경에 따라 변하는게 당연한 인간이라는 이름을 가진 동물들,......
이 시리즈물은 그냥 인간의 내면 속 갈등에서부터 좌절과 방황 그리고 그 모든 것을 딛고 일어서는 의지와 성장, 나아가 부패와 타락한 사회에 울려 퍼지는 인간들의 미묘하고도 복잡한 변화 그러니까 한 마디로 '(무엇이라 한 마디로 정의할 수 없는) 사회 속에 사는 인간'을 여과없이 다 보여준다. 놀란표 배트맨 시리즈 3부작을 깊이 들여다 볼 수록 이러한 철학적 사유와 고뇌의 장치들이 함축적으로 드러난다.( 그러고 보니 '다크 나이트 라이즈' 에 배트맨 3부작 시리즈 리뷰에 해당하는 리뷰를 쓰고 있네 ;;;;)
조커가 날린, 니체의 말을 인용한 대사 한 마디로 이 시리즈를 정리한다. "I believe whatever doesn't kill you, the simply makes you stranger!" 우리 모두 우릴 죽이지는 못하는 고통을 겪으며 그 속에 살고 있지 않은가? 그 고통을 견디고 이겨낼 수록 우린 강해져 가고. 어둠의 기사 배트맨이 3부에 이르러 다시 날아오른 것처럼, 우리도 고통을 이겨내고 다시 비상하며 살아가야 하는 것처럼!

쓸데없는 반전이 아쉽지만 그것을 제외하곤 완벽한 결말이다.
